What is HistoOnco™ HCC
HistoOnco™ HCC is an AI-based algorithm developed by HistoIndex to deliver objective, quantitative assessment of fibrosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Built on stain-free SHG/TPEF imaging, HistoOnco™ analyzes liver biopsy samples scanned using the Genesis®200 imaging system, extracting clinically meaningful fibrosis features that go beyond conventional histopathology.
By focusing on the structural organisation of collagen within liver tissue, HistoOnco™ provides a reproducible and standardised approach to evaluating fibrosis patterns associated with tumour biology and disease progression in HCC.
How it works
SHG/TPEF images of liver biopsy tissue are processed to quantify predefined morphological fibrosis parameters. Importantly, the algorithm evaluates fibrosis separately within tumor and non-tumor regions, capturing spatial heterogeneity that is often missed by traditional scoring systems.
These quantitative fibrosis features are integrated into prognostic indices that reflect the underlying tumour microenvironment and its relationship to clinical outcomes.
Turning Fibrosis Data Into Predictive Power
By applying validated cut-offs, HistoOnco™ predicts recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS), stratifying patients into early or late recurrence, and early or late mortality risk groups.
This enables more informed post-treatment monitoring and supports better clinical decision-making.
