HistoIndex AI Analysis Confirms Strong Fibrosis Improvement in D&D Pharmatech’s Phase 2 MASH Trial

This month, HistoIndex announced new data highlighting the value of AI-powered quantitative pathology in advancing MASH drug development.

Using our  proprietary  AI algorithm, qFibrosis®, we conducted an independent analysis of liver biopsies from D&D Pharmatech’s Phase 2 trial of zabopegdutide (DD01) – a differentiated investigational therapy for MASH.

In this collaboration, HistoIndex’s AI-powered assessment not only corroborated but extended the trial’s earlier positive histopathology findings, demonstrating that 81.8% of patients treated with zabopegdutide achieved ≥1-stage improvement in liver fibrosis, compared with 18.8% in the placebo group (p=0.001). HistoIndex and the Clinical Research Institute of Ohio (CRIOH) Sign a Memorandum of Understanding

Through this Memorandum of Understanding, CRIOH will gain access to HistoIndex’s integrated diagnostic offering, which combines expert histopathological evaluation with AI-based liver fibrosis analysis. Together, we will explore opportunities in quantitative tissue analysis, biomarker development, and other scientific initiatives that advance liver disease research and support the development of more effective MASH treatments.

Conference Highlights

EASL Congress 2026

At the EASL Congress HistoIndex showcased  7 poster presentations, including 1 Top Poster (View Poster) and 1 Late-Breaking Poster (View Poster), highlighting  the growing impact of our digital pathology advancements across diverse liver diseases and therapeutic contexts.

All poster presentations are now available on our website.

Top Poster: A spatial metabolic atlas of liver lipid metabolism and fibrosis in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.

SOLAR Conference 2026

In June our Chief Development Officer, Dr. Yukti Choudhury, Ph.D. and Clinical Development Manager, Dr. Daniel Tan, Ph.D., attended the inaugural SOLAR Conference in Puerto Rico.

During the SOLAR Shark Tank session Dr. Choudhury presented HistoIndex’s latest advancements.

Another highlight was an oral session featuring data from HistoIndex’s collaboration with Altimmune, Inc. on the Phase 2b IMPACT trial. The presentation highlighted significant reductions in continuous fibrosis measurements using HistoIndex’s qFibrosis® AI algorithm, demonstrating its ability to sensitively quantify treatment-related changes in liver fibrosis.

The findings, previously presented as a late-breaking poster at EASL Congress 2026 (View Poster), add to the growing body of evidence supporting innovative approaches to MASH treatment and fibrosis assessment.
