Research in Focus
A new study published in Nature Communications demonstrates how AI-powered digital pathology can provide a more detailed view of MASH progression and treatment response in preclinical studies. Researchers from Merck & Co., Inc. and MSD Singapore, with with hepatology expertise from VCU Stravitz-Sanyal Institute for Liver Disease and Metabolic Health, combined conventional histology with HistoIndex’s stain-free Second Harmonic Generation (SHG) imaging technology to examine the spatial relationships between steatosis, inflammation and fibrosis. The findings highlight how advanced tissue analysis with qFibrosis® can support the selection of fit-for-purpose disease models and enable more informed evaluation of therapeutic candidates in early-stage studies.
